Assumption
Abbey, Rockbridge Mill,
Rainbow Trout Farm, Summer Swimming
Hole |
-
Rockbridge is one our
favorite day trips, plan
at least 4-6 hours.
-
Travel through the Ozark
hills and start with a
stop a traditional
swimming hole this
is a favorite of the
locals.
-
Continue down the same
country road and arrive
at Assumption Abbey
which is run
by Tapestry Monks.
Assumption Abbey is
world known for their
fruit cake. This isn’t
your old style dry
holiday cake, this is
truly the only great
fruit cake I have ever
eaten. Many additional
gifts from other
Tapestry Abbeys.
-
Rockbridge Fishery—Rockbridge
Trout Ranch hatches
and releases their own
brown
and rainbow trout in to
the cool clear water.
View the hatching areas.
-
Rockbridge Day
Fishing—Stop in at the
office and get your day
permit for fishing.
The fishing is catch and
keep, you pay by the
pound, and can have the
clean those
tasty trout.
-
Sit at the old mill bar
and down your favorite
cool beverage while
watching the water
roll across the dam,
kids wading in the cool
stream, and anglers
trying for the big one
near the dam. Relax and
enjoy this is the place
to be.
-
Hike around the old
buildings and visit the
gift shop.
-
Dinner at one of the
best restaurants in the
area. Like trout, they
have trout sandwich that
is excellent. The key
to fish is freshness and
there is none fresher
than at the
trout ranch.
